Sainsbury’s: Design system
I worked with Sainsbury’s group specifically on building out re-usable components incorporating design tokens in Figma for group interface designers to use when constructing web responsive and native (iOS & Android) interfaces.
In this contract role, I was part of a Design Ops team that included specialists in accessibility, engineering, product design, and customer experience. All the design system components I produced are now being used by the user experience and user interface team across the Sainsbury’s platforms and the brands which also includes Argos, Habitat, Tu clothing and Nectar.
BT: SME Business broadband
Contracted to British Telecom (BT) on their SME Customer Broadband onboarding (New Sign Ups) and SME Existing Customer Re-sign journeys (Broadband contract renewals) centered around BT’s Broadband Bundle offerings. I was situated within a delivery squad and part of a BT-wide design tribe the project included BA, CX, UX, UI and user testing.
Indeed: Hiring platform
Part of a 8 person strong UXD team working as Snr. Product Designer which included all aspects of UX and UI design on an Indeed service called ‘Indeed Flex’. I was responsible for delivering various projects in this role mainly based around native applications (iOS/Android) delivery. Projects I worked on in this role include Onboarding, Payments and Payroll, Time and Attendance, Client dashboards, job posting, fulfillment, etc…
Tesco: Ordering, returns & refunds
Contracted to Tesco to assist in building out the ordering, refunds and returns process across web responsive and mobile native (iOS & Android). Responsible for working with a broad business team to generate various user experience and high fidelity user interface flows for a wide variety of ordering and returns processes with a large amount of edge cases and scenarios.
Shell: Employee experiences
Shell has a worldwide employee base of 85,000+ people. I was the sole contracted Product designer responsible for developing a consistent user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) set of principles and design language which could be cascaded through numerous external and internal employee facing touchpoints. As the UX/UI lead on global employee experience I worked across many different teams to produce consistent, enjoyable and easy to use digital experiences.
Argos: Design systems

Appyparking+: Parking application
AppyWay is a technology company that provides parking apps and services for drivers. It was founded in London in 2013, initially under the name of Yellow Line Parking. It produces software that shows on-street and off-street parking options in major cities in the UK.
I was excited to be involved in designing and developing the onboarding flow for new account registrants into the Appyparking+ application.
Blu: Loyalty program
Blu was looking to extend its loyalty program footprint across new key markets of Spain and France. The loyalty program would reward Blu product consumers with points to be built up and converted into Blu Experiences and product purchases. I was contracted to work within the CX team developing out wireframes and prototypes for the project.
Binance
The PNL (Profit & loss) Analysis section is located within the wallet section within the application. The brief was to run a heuristic review of the section and provide quick-win opportunities for improvements. We focused on and centered around overall pattern display improvements, date range functionality, share tools, accessibility and layout.
Sainsbury’s Groceries Online
As a UX/UI product designer for Sainsburys.co.uk, I focused on crafting seamless, end-to-end customer journeys to enhance the online shopping experience. My work involved understanding user needs, addressing pain points, and designing intuitive interfaces that aligned with the brand’s vision.
DEWA: Consumer platforms
Re-imagining and re-designing three digital channel interfaces for Dubai Electricity & Water Authority which consisted of Mobile (iOS & Android), Apple Watch, and Smart TV interfaces allowing users to have a unified experience across all devices.
Post Office
Designing user scenarios for the UK Post Office’s next-generation point-of-sale system, replacing the legacy Horizon system. This involved addressing the needs of postmasters, clerks, and customers, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience.
Who is Johnny?
I have spent a long time in experience designing and had a fantastic time building great digital services, met tons of great people, worked with the world’s greatest names... And I am proud now to say, I am very good at what I do, at my age and experience I can comfortably say that.
What gets me up in the morning? Good people to work with, good laughs, great digital products, and services to work on. And contributing to making life simpler for people. Your digital product/service is never too small for me, your vision might be though.
