Indeed Flex

About Indeed Flex

Indeed Flex is transforming temporary staffing through a mobile-first platform that gives workers flexibility, speed, and control. The app allows jobseekers to seamlessly browse, apply for, and manage shifts across industries such as hospitality, retail, and industrial, all in real time.
Backed by Indeed since 2019, Indeed Flex has grown rapidly across the UK and US, connecting businesses with pre-verified talent on demand. With its focus on digital experiences and mobile-first design, the platform empowers workers with features like instant pay and rewards, while helping employers achieve greater reliability and efficiency in staffing.

My contributions

As a Senior Product Designer at Indeed Flex, I contributed to improving the mobile app experience that connects workers with flexible shift opportunities across industries such as hospitality, retail, and industrial.
My work spanned job posting, marketplace dynamics, time and attendance, and pay visibility — all with a mobile-first mindset. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers, I helped refine core flows to make shift discovery, application, and payment more intuitive, empowering workers with greater transparency and control while supporting employers with faster, more reliable staffing.

Business Outcomes

The outcomes of this work contributed directly to Indeed Flex’s mission of creating a more efficient and empowering staffing marketplace. Improvements to core app journeys helped increase worker engagement, boost shift fill rates, and reduce errors in time and attendance.
Pay transparency and clearer workflows supported higher retention among workers, while streamlined posting and application processes enabled employers to fill roles more quickly and cost-effectively. These changes strengthened marketplace dynamics, delivering measurable value to both sides of the platform.

Strikes and Bans usability testing

I contributed to redesigning the Strikes and Bans experience within the Indeed Flex app, creating clearer policy communication and status tracking that improved worker understanding, transparency, and trust in the platform.

Mobile App: Job posting journey flow

I designed an end-to-end job posting experience that enables clients to create and publish shifts directly from the mobile app. The flow focuses on speed, clarity, and usability — reducing friction for busy managers who need to post jobs on the go. By simplifying input steps, introducing guided prompts, and ensuring alignment with existing design systems, the solution makes it easier for clients to fill roles quickly and confidently from any device.

Indeed Saas platform development project

I developed a set of reusable framework templates for Indeed Flex’s SaaS platform, focused on menus, navigation, and data-heavy screens. The goal was to give product teams a scalable foundation that balances flexibility with consistency across different pods and product areas.
By standardising containers, layouts, and interaction patterns, I made it easier for teams to present complex data in a way that feels intuitive and on-brand. These templates not only speed up delivery but also reduce design debt, ensuring new features can be built and integrated more efficiently.
The result is a framework that supports data-rich experiences, improves cross-pod alignment, and strengthens the overall usability of the platform.

Design System Component Development

I contributed to the development of reusable design system components for the Indeed Flex platform, focusing on scalability, accessibility, and consistency across mobile and web.
By standardising elements such as buttons, inputs, and interaction states, the system enabled faster delivery, reduced design duplication, and improved cohesion across the app experience.

Branded icon set development

I designed a unified icon system to represent job roles across Hospitality, Industrial, Facilities, Health Care, and Retail. The icons follow a consistent outline style aligned with brand guidelines, improving role recognition, accessibility, and overall user experience. This scalable set of 30+ icons strengthens brand identity and provides a foundation for future expansion.

Worker profile view on client mobile app

I designed enhanced mobile views for worker profiles, focusing on clarity, usability, and quick access to key information. The layouts prioritise shift history, upcoming bookings, and performance data, making it easier for workers to manage their schedules on the go. By streamlining navigation and surfacing the most relevant details, the updated views improve transparency, reduce friction, and strengthen trust between workers and the platform.

Pending and approving timesheets feature

I contributed to the design of a streamlined timesheet approval feature within the Indeed Flex app, enabling managers to quickly review, edit, and approve submitted hours. The solution improved visibility of pending costs, reduced friction in editing break times or shifts, and provided clear states for when no approvals were required — helping to create a faster, more transparent process for both workers and employers.

Earnings Section – Mobile application

I contributed to the design of the earnings section within the Indeed Flex mobile app, giving workers clearer visibility of their pay through weekly summaries, detailed breakdowns, and historical views. The feature also included simple pathways for reporting issues and accessing support, improving transparency and building trust by helping workers better manage and track their income.

Mobile app: Pay tab redesign user testing

I contributed to the redesign and usability testing of the pay tab experience, focusing on reducing support requests and improving payment clarity for workers. My work included shaping prototypes, testing discoverability of key actions like reporting issues, and validating new interaction models for displaying pay details. The outcome was a clearer, more intuitive pay tab that surfaces essential information and streamlines payment management.

Mobile app: Pay unmoderated user testing

I ran unmoderated usability testing on Indeed Flex’s mobile pay tab to validate design prototypes, ensuring workers could easily review their earnings, identify issues, and access support while surfacing insights to shape the ideal version of the pay experience.

Mobile app pay: Pay tabs testing user testing

I contributed to unmoderated usability testing to validate how easily users could locate and navigate the new Pay tab alongside Inbox and Profile sections. Using five prototype variations tested with 25 participants matching our core audience profile, we assessed task completion, discoverability, and overall usability. The findings helped identify which prototype performed best in surfacing pay information, reducing confusion, and ensuring smoother navigation across the app.

Peer feedback

Peer feedback at Indeed Flex highlighted my strengths as both a designer and collaborator — recognised for delivering high-quality UX/UI work, mentoring other designers, and building strong relationships with engineering to consistently achieve the best outcomes for users.

Approch & process

Across all projects I follow a structured, iterative design process — from discovery and definition through to ideation, prototyping, and testing. At each stage, I collaborate with stakeholders, product, engineering, and QA while incorporating user feedback, ensuring solutions are user-centred, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

Software tools used

The project was delivered using industry-standard design and collaboration tools including Figma, Sketch, and InVision, alongside DEWA’s internal systems for testing and validation.
